Autism

As a parent, you may worry when your child’s behavior becomes a consistent pattern. Autism, a neurobehavioral disorder that affects communication, social interaction, and behavior, is a common concern for many parents. Symptoms of autism include difficulty making eye contact, adherence to rules or routines, avoidance of social interaction, and repetitive or obsessive behaviors. Seeking professional evaluation is recommended if you notice these signs in your child. Therapy and medication can help manage autism’s symptoms, and seeking help early can enhance your child’s ability to cope and thrive.

Family issues

Our family influences us in both positive and negative ways, shaping our vocabulary, habits, customs, rituals, and worldview. Seeking family therapy is common in cases of:

  • divorce
  • parent-child conflict
  • sibling issues
  • domestic violence
  • traumatic family loss

Family therapy can heal wounds and bring benefits such as improved communication, problem-solving, empathy, and reduced conflicts. It is especially important for families dealing with substance abuse or behavioral issues. To learn more about how I can assist in reuniting your family, please contact me.

Personal growth

Personal growth, also referred to as self-development, encompasses the enhancement of all aspects of oneself, including feelings about oneself and effectiveness in living. It involves the development of positive life skills and realistic, healthy self-esteem. Personal development incorporates mental, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual growth, enabling individuals to live productive and satisfying lives while adhering to societal customs and regulations. Life skills, which fall under categories such as self-perception, intimacy, family, friends, community, job, and leisure, aid in successfully navigating life. These skills involve recognizing feelings, giving and receiving feedback, identifying assumptions, setting realistic goals, and using problem-solving strategies. People seek personal growth and development for a variety of reasons, including improving relationships, self-esteem, and overall life satisfaction. If you need help managing your emotions and behavior and want to improve your life, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Many of us have children that struggle to sit quietly, listen, follow instructions, or make acceptable comments. While occasional forgetfulness or daydreaming is typical, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) can also manifest as inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity. People with ADHD may struggle to control their impulsive reactions, such as movement, speech, and aggression.

Children with ADHD may exhibit a range of behaviors, from constant mobility and frenetic activity to tranquil withdrawal. The three core characteristics of ADHD are inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity, although not all three may be present in every child.

  • have difficulty focusing and easily become distracted.
  • appear to ignore others when spoken to.
  • Squirm and fidget frequently.
  • Talk excessively
  • Act impulsively
  • Interrupt frequently or make inappropriate comments.
  • have a quick temper or become easily frustrated.

Whether or not a child’s symptoms are due to ADHD, untreated inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity can cause problems. These children may struggle to make friends and develop low self-esteem, and their behavior can cause friction for the whole family.

Effective treatment can make a significant difference in managing a child’s symptoms. With the right support, your child can achieve success and growth in all areas of their life. If you’re interested in learning more about ADHD therapy, feel free to contact me today. I can share how I can help your child reach their full potential.
